Variance Request for Highland Heights Phase 2 for the use of Cleanouts instead of Manholes…

City of Shallowater

Public Notice

The City of Shallowater would like to give all interested parties the right to appear and be heard at the council meeting on Tuesday, 19th of July, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room, 607 Ave G, Shallowater, Texas on the issue of a variance to eliminate the “dry” sewer line at the high point in Avenue Q and terminate the sewer line beyond the last municipal sewer tap with a sewer cleanout for the Highland Heights development.  Concrete manholes have been used for the end of the line or at a high point where no sewer flow crosses.  The current design for Phase 2 calls for manholes to be constructed in the middle of Avenue Q that serve as the high point in the sewer line. These will be “dry” manholes but are used for maintaining the line. The requirement for a manhole at the high point or any break in grade in a sewer line is a TCEQ requirement. This requirement can also be accomplished by sewer cleanouts which would save approximately 100 linear feet of sewer line and the cost and maintenance of a concrete sewer manhole.

This variance, if granted would allow AMD Engineering to submit plans with sewer cleanouts in lieu of “dry” manholes for Phase 2 of the Highland Heights development.    Any questions or concerns may be directed to City Hall, 806-696-4300.

Thank you
