Variance for a Special Exception and Tiny House to be Placed at 910 12th Street for April Hudson…: City of Shallowater Public Notice   The City of Shallowater would like to give all interested parties the right to appear and be heard at the council meeting on Tuesday, the 19th of November, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room, 607 Ave G, Shallowater, Texas on the issue of a special exception for April Hudson at 910 12th Street to place a 34’ X 16’ tiny house on the west side of Shallowater Flowers and Gifts. The special exception is for the tiny house to be used as a residence in a commercially zoned area.  There will be an 8’ fence around the tiny house and it will tie in to the existing water and sewer lines of the flower shop.  The shop and the tiny house cannot be sold separately.  The tiny house is restricted from being utilized as a residential rental property in the future as well. This variance will also allow for the size and height of the tiny house to be placed at the location described above.   This variance, if granted would allow them to place a 544 square tiny house to be used as a residence.  The plans meet all required setbacks.  Any questions or concerns may be directed to City Hall, 806-696-4300.  Thank you

10th Street Reconstruction and Drainage Project Updated Schedule

Due to the weather delay, it was agreed, for the convenience of the residents of 10th Street that construction will begin on the 700 feet of 10th Street closest to Avenue Q on Monday, September 14, 2020.  The city will also be improving the drainage along Avenue Q and the alleys from 10th Street to 7th Street.  The anticipated schedule for the street work is through the end of September.

There will be no through traffic on 10th Street.  Residents will have access to their homes, but will need to enter and leave on Avenue N instead of Avenue Q.  There will be through traffic both directions on Avenue Q, but it will be slowed down.

Bus traffic will need to be diverted to 9th Street.  When the construction begins on the approaches traffic will be limited to one lane on 7th, 9th, and 10th Streets.

The city will be coordinating garbage pick up with South Plains Waste Services to ensure minimal disruption of services.
