Variance for a Special Exception and Tiny House to be Placed at 910 12th Street for April Hudson…: City of Shallowater Public Notice   The City of Shallowater would like to give all interested parties the right to appear and be heard at the council meeting on Tuesday, the 19th of November, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room, 607 Ave G, Shallowater, Texas on the issue of a special exception for April Hudson at 910 12th Street to place a 34’ X 16’ tiny house on the west side of Shallowater Flowers and Gifts. The special exception is for the tiny house to be used as a residence in a commercially zoned area.  There will be an 8’ fence around the tiny house and it will tie in to the existing water and sewer lines of the flower shop.  The shop and the tiny house cannot be sold separately.  The tiny house is restricted from being utilized as a residential rental property in the future as well. This variance will also allow for the size and height of the tiny house to be placed at the location described above.   This variance, if granted would allow them to place a 544 square tiny house to be used as a residence.  The plans meet all required setbacks.  Any questions or concerns may be directed to City Hall, 806-696-4300.  Thank you

TCEQ NOTICE OF VIOLATION: CHLORINE MONITORING, ROUTINE (DBP), MAJOR

Failure to Submit a Disinfectant Level Quarterly Operating Report (DLQOR)

MONITORING, ROUTINE (DBP), MAJOR CHLORINE

The CITY OF SHALLOWATER water system PWS ID 1520003 has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code (30TAC), Section 290, Subchapter F.  Public water systems are required to properly disinfect water before distribution, maintain acceptable disinfection residuals within the distribution system, monitor the disinfectant residual at various locations throughout the distribution system, and report the results of that monitoring to the TCEQ on a quarterly basis.

Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water is safe from microbial contamination.

This/These violation(s) occurred in the monitoring period(s) 3rd Quarter 2020.

We are taking the following actions to address this issue:

1.       The Utilities Department has been restructured.

2.       Monitoring occurs daily and a schedule of required monitoring and reporting has been implemented.

3.       The water system expects to return to compliance after the issuance of this Public Notice.  Once it was known the DLQOR is a quarterly requirement the 4th Quarter 2020 results were filed before the deadline.  All reported residuals were within compliance.

Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact Paul Farris at City Hall at
